Steve Popper VICE PRESIDENT
Steve Popper brings over 15 years of retained search experience to Schweichler Price Mullarkey & Barry.
He is one of the leaders of the firm's Cleantech & Energy practice area, while simultaneously driving the growth of Schweichler's Internet & Digital Media presence. Steve’s clients have come to appreciate
his straightforward style, attention to detail, thorough due diligence on candidates presented,
and creative search strategies. Steve’s clients are in the Bay Area, Pacific Northwest and the
Northeast, providing him with a truly national perspective on talent acquisition, private equity,
and technology.
Steve has taken a stage agnostic approach to building his search career, having done over 150 CEO searches, CFO searches, and cross-functional SVP and VP level projects for
early stage, venture-backed and publicly traded companies. Over the years, Steve has worked in the Wireless, Cleantech, Consumer/Digital Media, Enterprise
Software and Technology– Enabled Services sectors. Steve has also partnered with several, widely
recognized publicly traded companies on critical senior-level searches including CEO, CFO and CMO projects.
Steve's clients in Cleantech include Enphase Energy, Satcon Technology [SATC], Ausra, Skyline Solar, Deeya Energy, Stion Corporation, and Innovalight. His Internet & Digital Media clients include TiVo, GorillaNation, Google [GOOG], QVC.com, and Telltale Games.
Steve came to the firm in 2007 from nationally recognized Howard Fischer Associates, after almost
five years there. Prior to 2002, Steve worked at the technology incubator, 12 Entrepreneuring in
San Francisco, where he was the VP of Human Capital, part of the Executive Committee, and was
responsible for hiring the executive teams for the three software companies that were incubated there.
Steve’s prior search experience includes a tenure of several years with internationally recognized
search firm Christian & Timbers, where Steve was one of the founding members of their Financial
Services Practice, based in New York City and London.
Steve spent his four years after college working as a professional sailor in the Caribbean and New
England. He was a delivery and charter crewman, completed several transatlantic passages, and has
competed in sailing races internationally, including five Newport-Bermuda Races and one Admiral’s Cup.
Steve holds a B.S. degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany. Steve’s
interests include cycling, sailing, jazz, reading, ecology, guitar and snowboarding. He, his wife Gillian,
and their three daughters live in Mill Valley.
