Lee Schweichler, Managing Partner

Lee Schweichler, Managing Partner of Schweichler Price & Partners, has been engaged in senior level executive search and selection since 1969. He focuses on recruitment at the President/CEO and Vice President levels for companies in networking/datacommunications, computing systems and storage, software, telecommunications/wireless and semiconductors.

Lee has completed some of the most successful CEO searches in the Bay Area technology community, including John Morgridge at Cisco (and then placed John Chambers as #2 executive at Cisco), Dan Warmenhoven at Network Appliance, Dennis Barsema at Redback (Dennis IPO’d RBAK), Steve Dewitt at Cobalt, and Frank Slootman at Data Domain (DDUP).  These executives built their companies from early stage to industry leaders, IPO’d them and grew market value measured at nearly $200B.  He is very adept at identifying talent that goes beyond the resume.  Lee focuses on character and passion in his candidate selection process, and it’s paid off over the years.

In 1977, Lee Founded the firm and has built the team which is now Schweichler Price & Partners.   The firm has become the largest independent technology firm on the West Coast.  

Lee Schweichler holds an M.B.A. in Organization Behavior and Industrial Relations from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Sterne School in San Francisco, a school for children with learning disabilities. He is recognized in Career Makers: North America's Top Executive Recruiters. Lee is married, has three daughters, and resides in San Rafael, California.

Andy Price, Managing Partner

Andy Price has been an executive search consultant for 14 years.  He entered the business just before the crest of the Internet wave in the mid-90’s, and has emerged as a leader in the Bay Area search community at the age of 36.  Schweichler Associates, Inc. became “Schweichler Price & Partners” in 2004, after the firm had grown 300% during a blistering technology recession (2001-2004).  Andy led its expansion into emerging markets such as renewable energy and into strategic venture capital firms and high profile public companies, helping to fuel the firm’s growth and raising its profile in the market significantly. 

Andy runs searches for CEO's of public and private companies, and builds Officer level management for highly promising, fast growing private and public companies. His industry expertise includes energy, semiconductor, and all forms of I/T infrastructure, etc.  His energy clients include Ausra (Solar Thermal), Amyris Biotech (Biofuels), Bloom Energy (Fuel Cells), Coskata (Biofuels), Mascoma (Biofuels), Miasole (Solar), and SunPower (Solar P.V.), among others. Technology clients have included Ascend Communications (acq by LU for $24B), Broadcom (BRCM), Data Domain (DDUP), FEI Company (FEIC), LSI Logic (recruited their new CEO), Riverbed (RVBD), etc. Venture clients include the world's best investors such as Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, NEA, Sequoia, etc. Since 2004, his clients have generated more than $13B in liquidity events, and his public clients are profitable and growing. Andy has a sales background, has personally built I/T for two companies and has been involved with more than 250 successful executive searches. He earned a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Andy spends his free time with his lovely wife and two incredibly cute daughters, and his hobbies include racing road bikes, mountain biking, water skiing, scuba diving and triathlon.

Dave Mullarkey, Managing Partner

Dave Mullarkey joined Schweichler Price & Partners in 1996. In 2001 he became a Vice President, and in 2003 he was promoted to Managing Partner. During his ten years with the firm, Dave has played a major role in the company's growth and success.

Dave has now executed on over 150 retained searches, and he has a proven ability to attract and close top-notch executive talent for his clients. He applies a high energy commitment, is process oriented, and delivers superior client service. He has a thorough understanding of executive search and takes an analytic approach, from strategic planning and targeted research through recruiting and compensation structure.

Dave is a recognized search professional among tier one venture firms in Silicon Valley. He has completed projects in a variety of functional areas including CEO, General Management, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and Sales. Industry experience includes Enterprise Infrastructure, Consumer (Electronics and Internet), Wireless, Semiconductor, and Clean Energy. Several of his past clients have gone public or been acquired including Rackable, SunPower, PathScale, Wily, Topio, Redback, Cobalt Networks, Orbital Data, and others.  

Dave's early career included founding an Internet Company (which launched the successful CentralCoast.com and TALES web sites, and provided web design services/custom software development). As the CEO, he managed the P&L of the business and developed the team. The company grew to over 45 people and became one of the premier Internet consulting firms in Central California, growing to over 300 clients.

Dave earned a B.S. in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. He graduated with academic and athletic honors (tennis All American). He is married and has two wonderful children, Peyton and Saylor.  His hobbies include playing competitive tennis and basketball, and coaching his kid’s athletic teams.

Kevin Barry, Managing Partner

Kevin Barry joined Schweichler Price & Partners as a Managing Partner in 2004. As a previous Partner at Pierce & Crow, Kevin brings with him 12 years of retained executive search experience within the technology sector.
 
Kevin played a major role in the success and growth of Pierce & Crow, a highly regarded Bay Area based technology search firm, where he spent close to a decade delivering leading executive talent to many notable venture backed startups as well as publicly traded companies within a variety of technology segments. Break out industry leaders such as Check Point Software Technologies, Cerent (Cisco) and Tivoli (IBM) were all clients of the firm.

With a focus on executing searches for CEOs, GMs and Vice President level management, Kevin’s practice serves both the early stage, venture backed startup as well as multi-billion dollar, publicly traded companies. Recent clients of note have included Imperva, NevenVision (Google), JasperSoft, nCircle Network Security, Interface 21, SolFocus and eBay. With a dedication to making an impact on game changing companies in the burgeoning areas of open source, SaaS, internet and energy, Kevin has worked with leading investors in technology such as NEA, Benchmark Capital and Kleiner Perkins. His ability to consistently execute is based on discipline, preparation, internal drive and the agility to navigate through complex and challenging recruiting situations.  

Kevin began his career in technology in the early 1990’s in enterprise software sales and marketing at the DAVID Corporation, an enterprise class provider of Risk Management Software that served the F500 and government markets.

Born and raised in Silicon Valley, Kevin received a B.A. from Georgetown University and now resides in Marin County with his wife and two sons. Outside of work and a busy family life, Kevin is an accomplished and competitive endurance athlete with numerous Ironman triathlon finishes to date and is continually training for the next challenge ahead.

Sean Lucq, Vice President

Sean Lucq has over six years of experience in retained search and has been involved in more than 60 successful executive search projects. Having joined Schweichler Price and Partners as an Analyst in September 2000, just prior to the Internet collapse, he was a significant contributor in reshaping the firm’s research methodology–a key point of differentiation that enabled the firm to enjoy record growth and profitability during the technology recession of 2001–2004. After perfecting the fundamentals of research, Sean evolved into one of the firm’s top performing Senior Associates, driving candidate development for venture-backed, high profile CEO and VP level searches in technology.

Often an initial point of contact with potential candidates, Sean’s focus on professionalism and thoroughness in representing opportunities, combined with a conviction that every conversation should result in a new relationship, has elevated the firm’s visibility and reputation within the candidate community. As a result, Schweichler Price & Partners has become a household name in Silicon Valley and is known for representing some of the highest quality opportunities in technology today.

Sean has extensive experience in a variety of areas including CEO, General Management, Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Engineering, and Operations. He has played a critical role in the successful and timely completion of over 63 searches in a range of industries, including Enterprise Infrastructure, Computing/Networking, Consumer Electronics, Internet, Wireless/Mobility, Software, Semiconductor, and CleanTech. Many of these clients have subsequently been acquired in significant transactions, including PolyServe (HP), Neven Vision (Google), McDATA (Brocade), Topspin (Cisco), PathScale (QLogic), Topio (NetApp), Airespace (Cisco), Laurel Networks (ECI Telecom), and Port Authority Technologies (Websense).

Steve Popper, Vice President

Steve Popper brings over 15 years of retained search experience to Schweichler Price & Partners. Steve’s clients have come to appreciate his straightforward style, attention to detail, thorough due diligence on candidates presented, and creative search strategies. Steve’s clients are in the Bay Area, Pacific Northwest and the Northeast, providing him with a truly national perspective on talent acquisition, private equity, and technology.

Steve has done over 150 CEO searches, CFO searches, and cross-functional SVP and VP level projects for early stage, venture-backed companies in the Wireless, Cleantech, Consumer/Digital Media, Enterprise Software and Technology– Enabled Services sectors. Steve has also partnered with several, widely recognized publicly traded companies on critical senior-level searches including CEO, CFO and CMO projects.

Steve came to the firm in 2007 from nationally recognized Howard Fischer Associates, after almost five years there. Prior to 2002, Steve worked at the technology incubator, 12 Entrepreneuring in San Francisco, where he was the VP of Human Capital, part of the Executive Committee, and was responsible for hiring the executive teams for the three software companies that were incubated there.

Steve’s prior search experience includes a tenure of several years with internationally recognized search firm Christian & Timbers, where Steve was one of the founding members of their Financial Services Practice, based in New York City and London.

Steve spent his four years after college working as a professional sailor in the Caribbean and New England. He was a delivery and charter crewman, completed several transatlantic passages, and has competed in sailing races internationally, including five Newport-Bermuda Races and one Admiral’s Cup.

Steve holds a B.S. degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany. Steve’s interests include cycling, sailing, jazz, reading, ecology, guitar and snowboarding. He, his wife Gillian, and their three daughters live in Mill Valley.
